Hartford mulls resolution to allow electric scooter program

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The Hartford City Council is considering a resolution that would allow the start-up company Lime to begin expanding their ride-share program in the city.

Democratic City Council Majority Leader James Sanchez's resolution proposes the city enter into an exclusive agreement with the California-based startup to "provide bike-sharing and micro mobility services in Hartford." The Hartford Courant reports the resolution would amend a previous agreement with Lime to extend services to other vehicles provided by the company like electric scooters.

Lime official Scott Mullen says alongside electric bikes and scooters, the company also operates a car-sharing service.

The company's bicycles, first made available in Hartford in June, saw a surge in popularity that resulted in Lime sending an additional 100 bicycles to the city.
