Candlewood Lake officials are warning boaters to watch for hydrilla, an invasive aquatic plant established in nearby Lake Lillinonah. It has not been found in Candlewood Lake but can grow an inch a day and spread from small fragments. Boaters should clean, drain and dry their boats and trailers. Anyone spotting hydrilla should photograph it, mark the location and notify the Candlewood Lake Authority, but should not remove it.
