A proposed 300-unit apartment development on the Newtown-Bethel line is being redesigned after the discovery of a protected vernal pool used by wood frogs and salamanders. The developer withdrew the current application and plans to return with a new layout addressing wetlands and drainage concerns. The project includes 90 affordable housing units and is also tied up in an ongoing court fight over zoning approval.
