Danbury is lowering its tax increase to under one percent after receiving additional state funding. The City Council approved a nearly 349 million dollar budget, dropping the tax hike to about POINT 96 percent. Mayor Roberto Alves says the added aid helped reduce the burden on taxpayers while maintaining city services. The budget still reflects a more than six percent overall spending increase.
