Middlebury’s Democratic registrar of voters is suing the town for 992 dollars he says he’s owed for working two elections. Francis Barton Junior says registrars should receive hourly pay for election work in addition to their annual stipend. First Selectman Jennifer Mahr says that hourly pay was not authorized under the town charter or budget. The town offered Barton a settlement, but he rejected it. Barton says he is also owed for a third election.
